  • Where are your classes located?
    Indoor classes are held at North Woodside Community Centre. Outdoor classes are held in the playground behind Hawthorn Elementary (April through October).
  • How much does it cost?
    Prices vary as they depend on number of regular members. Monthly fees cover all classes. Fees average between $75 and $85/month. Please inquire for current fees. There is also an option to pay a per class fee of $10 per class, with advance notice.
  • Do I need any experience to join?
    No type of experience is needed.
  • Do I need a mask for class?
    Currently you are only required to put on a mask during specific indoor class activities. Masks are optional at all other times.
  • Can I join any time?
    Yes. Everyone gets their first 2 classes for free, and your first month's fees will be prorated from the date of your first paid class.
  • Do I need to be in good shape to do kung fu?
    No. Kung fu is suited to all body types, fitness levels and abilities. Movements can be adjusted for anyone with mobility restrictions due to old injuries, chronic joint issues etc.
  • Do you have a family/household discount?
    Yes. Discount depends on number of family/household members, please inquire for details.
  • Is this the same club as Five Animal Kung Fu with Sifu Garreth Warren?
    No, but the teacher and some students are former students of Sifu Warren. We teach the same style and have the same curriculum.
  • Are your classes 2SLGTBQ+ friendly?
    Yes. Our classes are safe spaces for every one.
  • What should I wear in my first class?
    TOP: Loose fitting top or tshirt (no tanks or sports bras, but sleeveless shirts are fine). BOTTOM: Loose fitting pants that are tighter at the ankles (baseball pants, sweatpants, etc). Shorts are also ok, however if you will be doing ground work it is recommended that your knees are covered. FOOTWEAR: Flexible shoes with thin soles. If you don’t have any, then whatever footwear you have that is comfortable and as flexible as possible. Barefoot is ok, but not recommended.
  • What is the class uniform?
    Club t-shirt (black with logo on left chest) and kung fu pants, or black pants as described above. Kung fu shoes are available for purchase, or shoes as described above.
  • How much is the uniform?
    Club shirts are $15. Kung fu pants, shoes and sashes must be ordered and are dependent on supplier prices. Pants are around $35; shoes are around $45; sashes are around $15.
  • Do I need to buy weapons?
    Weapons will need to be purchased starting in orange sash, but may be purchased as you progress. Some class use weapons are available for use.
